There is a real chance that Inter striker Romelu Lukaku could start alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack for the Nerazzurri’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg match against Porto on Wednesday.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is considering giving the Belgian the chance in the starting eleven rather than Edin Dzeko.
The signals from Lukaku in recent appearances for Inter have been somewhat mixed, as the 29-year-old has shown some flashes of his quality, but has also failed to score or assist a goal.
The sense that the former Everton and Manchester United striker is not yet at full fitness and ready to start in a match as important as the one against Porto has lingered, and for this reason it has looked likely that the more reliable Dzeko would start.
However, the Bosnian has himself not been in the best of form since the return from the winter break, and according to Tuttosport, Inzaghi is seriously considering putting his faith in Lukaku from the start.
