Inter defender Francesco Acerbi feels confident about what the Nerazzurri can achieve about even the best opposition, but does not want the team to get ahead of themselves.
Speaking to InterTV ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Champions league round of sixteen first leg against Porto, via FCInterNews, the 35-year-old stressed humility, though he agreed with midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s assertion that the team can go toe-to-toe with any opponents.
Inter will face one of the biggest tests of their season in the form of a Champions League round of sixteen clash with Portuguese champions Porto.
At stake will be a place in the quarterfinals of Europe’s biggest club competition, and both teams will be highly motivated.
The quality of Porto is hardly up for debate, and Inter will have to find the right balance between confidence that they can get a result against this opposition, and respect for them.
“Mkhitaryan is right that we can go toe-to-toe against anyone,” Acerbi said.
“But we also have to consider the opponents, we have to stay humble,” he added.
“We have to play with grit and determination, and will also need a bit of luck on the pitch as is always the case in life.”
