Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic looks to be just what the Nerazzurri need for the run-in of the season, and his return couldn’t have arrived a moment too soon.
This is the view of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who note that the Nerazzurri midfielder comes back to give added depth and a different dimension to his team’s midfield at the most crucial part of the season.
Inter had been coping better than expected in Brozovic’s absence as a new-look midfield trio of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan proved balanced.
However, the first-choice trio has started to show one or two signs of wear and fatigue, and Mkhitaryan in particular looked off the pace against Porto on Wednesday.
Brozovic’s arrival as a substitute coincided with Inter’s best spell of the match, as the 30-year-old quickened the pace with his crisp passing and endless running.
This looked to be a sign of just what the Croat will bring to the Nerazzurri’s midfield, as he can give coach Simone Inzaghi a real selection dilemma for big matches and ensure that there is quality and energy both from the start and from the bench in midfield.
