It is not at all certain that Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will remain a Nerazzurri player past the end of this season.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could decide to cash in on the 30-year-old, and not just as part of a mooted swap deal for Barcelona’s Franck Kessie.
Rumours in January of a swap deal involving Brozovic and Barcelona’s Kessie in January were a clear sign that the Croat’s situation at Inter is not as secure as it had been even just a few months ago.
Having come into this season as a key player for the Nerazzurri on the pitch, Brozovic has been absent for long spells with injury, and Hakan Calhanoglu has emerged as a starting-quality option in his deep-lying midfield position.
The Gazzetta note that particularly since the return from the World Cup, there has been a sense that Brozovic’s situation at the Nerazzurri is no longer the same.
Talks regarding a swap deal between Brozovic and Kessie would still be a possibility for the summer, as Inter consider the Ivorian to be a major target.
However, this would be far from the only scenario that could potentially see Brozovic leave the club ahead of next season.
According to the Gazzetta, the 30-year-old would be one of the players who Inter will listen to offers for when the summer window opens.
