Juventus virtually dared Inter to try and unlock their defensive shape for much of yesterday evening’s Serie A clash, but apart from a couple early efforts by midfielder Nicolo Barella the Nerazzurri looked bereft of any ideas.

This is the verdict in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews, who criticize the Nerazzurri for a slow and hapless performance in possession and in the final third.

As is often the case under Max Allegri, Juventus looked fairly content to sit deep and give their defenders work to do against Inter yesterday evening.

Bianconeri defenders Bremer, Federico Gatti, and Danilo certainly rose to the challenge, whilst the overall defensive performance by the Turin-based team was a solid and organized one.

Inter wound up with the majority of the possession, particularly after the Bianconeri’s first-half goal, but they lacked any way to turn it into penetration behind the Juventus backline.

A couple early efforts by Barella showed the intent to try and rattle Juventus early on, but after that it was a pretty comfortable evening for the Bianconeri’s defenders truth be told, as everything was in front of them and nothing really found a way through their resistance to cause panic.
