Inter wingback Robin Gosens is hoping that this evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg match against Juventus can be the right opportunity for the Nerazzurri to bounce back in form.
Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old stressed not looking backwards or searching for explanations after the team’s run of bad results in the league, and to simply try to get back on track against the Biacnoneri this evening.
There is no disguising the fact that Inter’s recent form in Serie A has been nothing less than a crisis.
Three losses in a row, and four from their last five matches have seen the Nerazzurri’s push to finish in the top four of the league table put in jeopardy.
However, there will be very little time for the team to dwell on this fact or lick their wounds.
Rather, the Nerazzurri must do everything to immediately shift their focus on the matches ahead, with this evening’s match against Juventus already upon them just a couple days after losing to Fiorentina in the league.
“We’re in the middle of a tough period and up against a strong opponent, but these are the kinds of moments when you can get your season back on track and get out of a bad patch,” Gosens said of this evening’s match.
“They’re in form,” the German said of Juventus, “but if we go back to being the team we know we’re capable of being then we can get a positive result here.”
“Positivity is needed right now, this is a very important month for us,” he added.
Asked about the team’s recent struggles finishing chances in particular, Gosens said that “Honestly, looking for explanations is useless, the fact is that we didn’t score and we lost against Fiorentina.”
“Football goes on,” he continued, “there’s no need to look back.”
“Tonight can be the match to turn everything around for us, explanations are useless.”
