Legendary former Inter, Lazio, and Atletico Madrid striker Christian Vieri admits that when he watches the deliveries of current Nerazzurri wingback Federico Dimarco into the box, he wishes he were still out on the pitch.

Speaking at the Charity Gala Dinner in Rome, as reported by FCInterNews, Vieri praised the 25-year-old current Inter star.

This season, Dimarco has been one of the real breakout stars for Inter.

The wingback had a positive first season of regular first-team football last time around. However, he found himself behind Ivan Perisic in the pecking order, and was often used as a centre-back.

This time around, Dimarco has made the left flank his own.

Following Perisic’s departure, the 25-year-old has won the battle with Robin Gosens to be the first-choice starter.

Dimarco has been a key man in many of Inter’s outstanding performances this season.

There is more to the wingback’s game than just crossing. Dimarco’s entire range of passing, long and short, has made him a useful player in buildup play.

Moreover, the 25-year-old has really started to add goals to his game. In a number of key matches, Dimarco has shown a great understanding of when to arrive in a scoring position. And then, his finishing has been quite clinical all campaign.

However, crossing is perhaps the single outstanding attribute that Dimarco possesses.

Vieri: Watching Federico Dimarco Makes Me Wish I Was Still Playing

Asked which Nerazzurri player has impressed him most this season, Vieri replied “Dimarco, he’s playing at a very high level.”

“He’s great! Just great!”

“When I see him cross the ball, I wish that I could go back to playing,” Vieri said of Dimarco. Inter’s strikers have certainly benefited from Dimarco’s excellent deliveries all season.”

“Then I get out of my armchair, my knees hurt, and I go, ‘it’s ok,'” he added with a laugh.
