Inter Milan legend Marco Materazzi won the World Cup with Italy seventeen years ago.

In July of 2006, the Nerazzurri defender played a pivotal role in helping his country to lift international football’s biggest honour.

The Azzurri beat France in the final of the competition. Materazzi was on the scoresheet before Italy prevailed in a penalty shootout.

Inter Milan legend Marco Materazzi took to Twitter to look back on that final, commemorating a hugely significant anniversary.
