Slavko Vincic has come under heavy scrutiny after a series of questionable decisions in last night’s match between Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, Vincic’s poor officiating directly affected the final score at the BayArena.

Despite his household status, the Slovenian referee has proved prone to making erratic calls in high-octane moments.

Indeed, he failed to live up to expectations in last season’s UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

However, UEFA continues to appoint Vincic in the most high-profile European fixtures.

One such took place last night.

Vincic didn’t enter the game well.

He showed two yellow cards to Inter players in the first 27 minutes, even though both calls were avoidable.

For starters, Hakan Calhanoglu didn’t deserve the booking. And if he did, Vincic had to sanction Granit Xhaka too.

Moreover, he penalized Carlos Augusto for a pull-back during inactive play.

However, his most controversial decision eventually determined the winner.

Instead of awarding a free-kick to Inter for Jeremie Frimpong’s obvious offside, he pointed to the corner.

Leverkusen would score from the resulting set piece, making him the main culprit for Inter’s first European loss this season.
