Inter Milan are facing a late threat from Serie A champions Napoli in their pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman but remain confident of securing a deal.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, and via FCInterNews.it, Antonio Conte’s Napoli are also keen on landing Nigeria international Lookman and have submitted a proposal to Atalanta.

The former Everton and Fulham player appears set to leave Bergamo this summer and Inter made the first move to sign him, with Napoli’s interest not thought to have edged the Nerazzurri out of pole position just yet.

However, Napoli have offered Lookman a higher wage than Inter, with the €5 million per year salary more lucrative than the €4m proposed by the Nerazzurri.

Inter are optimistic that he will join them, but are yet to find an agreement with Atalanta over a transfer fee and this has given Napoli room to jump in.

Napoli have turned their attention to Lookman after encountering difficulties in securing a deal for Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, as he looks set to join Nottingham Forest.
