Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman has been ruled out of the first weeks of preseason training with the club following an injury, with no suggestion it relates to an impending move to Inter Milan.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, and via FCInterNews.it, the 27-year-old will not be involved as Atalanta return to physical conditioning work ahead of the new campaign.

The Nigeria international has suffered a minor calf injury and the strain is considered to be genuine, rather than an attempt to force a move through to Inter.

Indeed, the former RB Leipzig and Fulham player reported to Atalanta’s Zingonia training centre for assessments on Saturday and will undergo treatment with the Bergamo club.

It is in contrast with Lookman’s conduct last summer, when he refused to take part in training amidst interest from Paris Saint-Germain, although he was reintegrated after a transfer to the Ligue 1 champions failed to materialise.
