Inter Milan and AC Milan are reportedly facing yet another obstacle in their efforts to build a new San Siro, as demolition could be blocked on historical grounds.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan and AC Milan are still plugging away in their efforts to build a new stadium.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are hoping to secure approval to buy the land around the San Siro.

From their, the clubs’ intention would be to construct a new stadium adjacent to the existing stadium.

Already, Inter and Milan have had to contend with an injunction against demolishing the third tier of the San Siro.

The clubs cannot tear down that iconic tier on historical grounds.

However, reports La Repubblica, there could also be a more extensive injunction against demolition work around the site.

This would concern historic plaques and other memorabilia around the stadium.

Rather than being prohibitive on architectural grounds like the second tier, this would be prohibitive on historical grounds.
