Italian journalist Paulo Condo explains why he expects Inter Milan’s striking duo Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram to find their sparkling form once more next season.
The two strikers have been playing side-by-side since the Frenchman’s arrival at Appiano Gentile in the summer of 2023.
Thuram immediately filled the gap caused by Romelu Lukaku’s controversial departure. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach star struck an immediate understanding with Martinez who swiftly became Italy’s most lethal attacking partnership.
Therefore, at the start of every campaign, many betting enthusiasts tend to back one or the other to win the Serie A top goalscorer award, considering it a somewhat safe bet.
In addition to sports betting, playing at an online casino represents another fun hobby for many football fans, driven by the thrill of the competition. Nevertheless, not all online platforms can be trusted, which is why players are advised to make sure they are playing at a legitimate and legal site, by checking reviews and local gambling licenses.
Back to Lautaro and Thuram, the duo are coming from a relatively underwhelming 2024/25 campaign. While the France international started the season on a high note, he eventually ran out of steam.
On the contrary, the club captain had to overcome a slow start. While his performances improved as the season progressed, he never reached the heights of the 2023/24 campaign.
Nevertheless, Condo attributes this drop to the lack of alternatives, which forced the duo to work extra shifts.
Why Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez & Marcus Thuram Struggled Last Season
The journalist insists that Lautaro and Thuram didn’t have proper backup. He argues that Marko Arnautovic, Joaquin Correa and Mehdi Taremi failed to offer anything notable.
“Lautaro Martinez and Thuram weren’t enough last season because there was absolutely no one behind them,” said Condo during his appearance on Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.
“Taremi, Arnautovic, and Correa brought nothing. In fact, none of the three are still at Appiano Gentile.”
Condo Reveals Why Inter Duo Will Rebound Next Season
On the contrary, the pundit expects the Inter duo to bounce back thanks to the return of Francesco Pio Esposito and the potential signing of Ademola Lookman.
“This summer, Inter brought back Pio Esposito, who is a really interesting addition. And then there’s Bonny.
“If they also manage to bring Lookman, they’ll certainly give Lautaro and Thuram some breathing space,
“This will be vital, because, remember, in the last two months, Inter went from the prospect of winning everything to winning nothing. This is mainly because they had exhausted players.”
