Serie A newcomers Sassuolo are reportedly contemplating a late summer swoop for Inter Milan outcast Mehdi Taremi.

According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto via FCInter1908, the Neroverdi are keen to sign the 33-year-old.

However, it’s still just a thought for Fabio Grosso’s side, with no formal contact established yet.

Meanwhile, Inter are desperate to offload Mehdi Taremi before the curtain drops on the transfer window.

Indeed, Cristian Chivu has sidelined the Iranian striker from his project.

Sassuolo have emerged as the latest option for the former Porto striker.

Formerly linked with Besiktas and Flamengo, Taremi has made clear that he wants to stay in Europe’s top-five leagues.

On the other hand, Leeds United and Fulham had thought about luring him to the Premier League.

However, they’ve not made contact with Inter.

As a result, Taremi remains at San Siro, with Inter still awaiting formal proposals for their out-of-favor striker.

Perhaps Sassuolo can offer him an escape route, but the player’s stance on this option is still uncertain.
