Italian newspaper La Repubblica claim that Juventus “wanted to win” and that Inter Milan “no longer have the toughness of an untouchable team,” after the Bianconeri’s 4-3 win in the Derby d’Italia.

The Italian outlet, with quotes via FcInterNews, delivered a harsh verdict on the Nerazzurri performance.

“They gave the impression of a team that was already exhausted or even finished,” the paper write, “we need to have the courage to start thinking about it.”

The Roman newspaper note that the “entire old guard appear haggard” at Inter, stressing the need for change and rejuvenation.

Inter have the “high quality players” but the outlet argue “they are no longer enough to be resilient.”

The newspaper concluded with the assessment that:

“Inter are getting there but they no longer have the toughness of an untouchable team.”

Inter led the game 3-2 heading into the final ten minutes.

However, the Nerazzurri capitulated and Juventus scored twice to take all three points for themselves.

It was a disappointing result for an Inter side who looked good for large chunks of the match.

Now, Chivu’s side must prepare for their Champions League opener against Ajax in Amsterdam on Wednesday night.
