Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu lost his maiden managerial appearance in the famous Derby della Madonnina.

According to La Repubblica via FCInter1908, Inter’s heart-wrenching 1-0 defeat was a bitter stroke of misfortune.

Despite spending most of the game on the back foot, AC Milan stunned Inter in the 183rd edition of the Milan derby.

Unfortunately, it was not the result Cristian Chivu had hoped for after overseeing three straight league wins before the international break.

Inter failed to get on the scoresheet in Serie A for the first time this season.

However, no one can accuse the Nerazzurri of a lack of trying.

Indeed, they amassed 20 shots, including six on target, whilst generating a telling 1.92 xG.

Yet, Mike Maignan enjoyed a dream night, making numerous incredible stops to keep Inter at bay.

Furthermore, the woodwork helped the French goalkeeper record a clean sheet.

Inter hit the post twice, with the frame of the goal preventing Chivu’s side from scoring a well-deserved goal.
