Title-chasing Inter Milan and European hopefuls Atalanta will trade tackles in a high-stakes Serie A showdown at Stadio San Siro on Saturday.

According to La Repubblica via FCInterNews, Atalanta’s spirits suffered a huge blow in midweek Champions League action.

Sitting at the top of the tree, seven points clear of second-placed AC Milan, Inter are on course to win their 21st top-flight title.

However, Cristian Chivu cannot take anything for granted, especially after a heartbreaking 1-0 loss in last weekend’s Milan derby.

Therefore, Inter will be out to return to winning ways and take another important step toward securing the Scudetto.

Back-to-back winless league outings have derailed Atalanta’s top-four ambitions, leaving them five points adrift of fourth-placed Como.

As such, La Dea cannot afford another slip-up at San Siro if they’re to secure Champions League qualification.

Still, Raffaele Palladino’s side will take this short trip off the back of an embarrassing 6-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich.

Indeed, the record-time Bundesliga champions humbled Atalanta in the first leg of their last-16 tie in Bergamo on Tuesday.

Despite being the only Serie A side to reach the Round of 16, La Dea have already come to regret beating Borussia Dortmund in the playoffs.
