Runaway Serie A leaders Inter Milan are likely to miss out on the signature of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

According to The Athletic via FCInterNews, the Reds have triggered a renewal clause in the Brazilian’s contract.

The 33-year-old’s deal was due to expire in June, prompting Inter Milan chief Beppe Marotta to add him to his list of targets.

Indeed, Marotta is in the market for a new shot-stopper, with veteran star Yann Sommer set to leave the club at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has emerged as the top candidate to replace the Swiss ace.

However, Inter are also keeping other options open.

Despite Giorgi Mamardashvili’s arrival from Valencia last summer, Alisson has retained his place between the sticks.

Indeed, the former Roma goalkeeper remains Arne Slot’s first choice in goal.

Therefore, Liverpool have exercised an option to extend his contract for a further year, tying him down to Anfield until 2027.

Alisson’s short-term extension has effectively ruled out his transfer to San Siro.

As such, the Nerazzurri will likely turn their attention toward Vicario, who is likely to leave North London in the summer.
