Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly expected to revamp their defensive options in the summer transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri will undergo a massive defensive overhaul at the end of the season.

Three long-serving veterans will bid farewell to San Siro in June.

Indeed, the runaway Serie A leaders have decided against renewing expiring contracts of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij.

Furthermore, versatile fullback Matteo Darmian is also on his way out after enduring an injury-hit season.

Therefore, the club must sign at least three new defenders to keep Cristian Chivu’s squad competitive on multiple fronts.

Inter Milan to Undergo Major Defensive Overhaul in the Summer

Sassuolo center-back Tarik Muharemovic has emerged as Inter’s top target.

However, with Juventus boasting the right of first refusal, signing the Bosnian starlet could be easier said than done.

As such, the Nerazzurri have identified several potential alternatives, including Udinese’s Oumar Solet and Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez.

Meanwhile, Marco Palestra remains Inter’s dream target to strengthen the wingback position.

Still, the Atalanta-owned wingback commands a huge €40 million price tag.

On the other hand, Inter are working on extending Carlos Augusto’s deal and are also hoping to hold onto Alessandro Bastoni.
