Former Inter owner and President Massimo Moratti was interviewed by Italian media outlet La Repubblica where he spoke about the process surrounding the sale of the ownership of the club to Indonesian tychoon Erick Thohir.

The legendary Nerazzurri President made it very clear that “there are no similarities between when I sold my majority stake to Erick Thohir and how it happened at AC Milan recently where the characteristics were clearly different. The transaction concerning Inter was completed with full transparency and was also completed within a few months. We are talking about two different things.”

Massimo Moratti bought Inter in 1995 from Ernesto Pellegrini and was in charge of the club for 18 years before selling 70% of his shares to Indonesian sport’s and business tychoon Erick Thohir in 2013 an sold his remaining 30% to Chinese fortune 500 company, the Suning Group. Moratti is the most successful President in Inter’s history in terms of trophies won as under his stewardship the Nerazzurri amassed 16 titles including the famous treble captured in 2010. The 16 titles won under Moratti’s reign makes him the second most successful President of all time in Italian football, beaten only by AC Milan’s former President who under his 31 years in charge of the Rossoneri led the club to 29 titles.
