Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the chance for Inter Milan to clinch the Serie A title against AC Milan is “crazy” and “historic.”

The Armenian spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, ahead of next week’s derby clash with the Rossoneri.

Inter are now right on the verge of clinching the Serie A title.

The only team who would be capable of catching the Nerazzurri, mathematically speaking, are city rivals Milan.

And the Rossoneri are thirteen points back. Therefore it is, to put it lightly, not exactly probable that they will do so.

Moreover, the next match for both Inter and Milan is the derby.

After both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri drew their respective matches over this past weekend, the situation heading into that derby is clear.

A draw would not be enough for Inter to put Milan truly out of sight.

If the gap were to remain thirteen points after the derby, then the Rossoneri would technically still have a chance to catch up in the remaining five matches of the season.

But a victory for Inter would widen the gap to sixteen points.

And that would be more than the fifteen that would still remain to play for.

Mkhitaryan: Inter Have “Crazy” & “Historic” Chance To Clinch Serie A Title Vs AC Milan

Naturally, few matches would be bigger occasions in which to secure the title for Inter than the derby.

That is perhaps even more the case given what happened two years ago.

In the 2021-22 season, it was Milan who won the title.

The Rossoneri pipped Inter to the title by just two points. It went down to the final day of the season, after Inter squandered an advantage during the spring.

So if Inter could clinch this season’s title, it could feel like a measure of revenge.

Mkhitaryan remarked that “If it were to happen, it would be the first time in the history of Serie A.”

“Being able to win the derby and the title at the same time is a crazy and historic opportunity,” the 35-year-old former Arsenal and Roma midfielder added.
