Henrikh Mkhitaryan has no doubts that Inter Milan will give everything to beat AC Milan in the derby and clinch the Serie A title.

The Armenian spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-2 Serie A draw against Cagliari.

In a sense, this weekend has not seen any real change in the top two positions in the Serie A table.

Both Inter and AC Milan drew their respective matches.

The Rossoneri drew 3-3 with Sassuolo in a wild encounter earlier today. Then, the Nerazzurri went ahead twice against Cagliari – but were pegged back on both occasions.

These two draws against teams in the relegation battle mean that the distance between Inter and Milan in the table remains thirteen points.

And that will be the case at the start of next Monday’s derby clash.

There are just five matches to go after the derby. In other words, fifteen points on offer.

Therefore, a win for Inter would be enough to clinch the title mathematically speaking – it would increase the gap to sixteen points.

On the other hand, a draw would not quite be enough for the Nerazzurri to make absolutely certain of finishing the season as champions.

Mkhitaryan: Inter Will Do Everything To Clinch Serie A Title Vs AC Milan

Mkhitaryan said of the derby that “We always focus on winning matches.”

“It will be a great battle for us. And for the fans.”

“We’ll give our best to try and clinch the title,” Mkhitaryan said.

“We have to thank the fans for the entire season,” the 35-year-old went on. “For what we’ve experienced.”

“We’re moving forward together. If we win, we win together.”

Of this evening’s draw against Cagliari, Mkhitaryan said that “We could have done better and killed it off earlier.”

“We tried to find spaces that weren’t there,” the former Arsenal and Manchester United midfielder added.

“We drew. But there’s no reason for us to let our heads drop.”

Mkhitaryan made clear that “Now we want to finish off the season by reaching our goals.”
