Yesterday the Golden Foot award was handed out in Monte Carlo and one of those who attended the ceremony was the former Inter player Lothar Matthäus who could not avoid talking about his former team, a team that he “will always be a supporter of. The time at Inter was a happy period in my life.I won the Scudetto, I won the World Cup and I was awarded the Golden Ball. These are feelings I certainly will not forget.”
Matthäus also stated that he has great confidence in today’s Inter and especially in the team’s coach Andrea Stramaccioni: “Just three years ago, Inter won the treble, today, much has changed. Stramaccioni is very good in my opinion, he does a very good job. I was present at his first match as coach of Inter, 5-4 against Genoa., I thought it was a good start. I like him, with him is Inter in good hands.”
What does Inter’s prospects look like? “So far, Juventus and Napoli have been superior but I think Inter have everything it takes to get to the Champions League next season. I would be delighted.”
Finally, a few words about Serie A: “When I played there it was the most beauful league in the world, today the Premier League, the Bundesliga and La Liga are in front. There are many problems to solve.”
