Speaking to Marco Barzaghi in an exclusive interview that aired on Sportmediaset, Juan Jesus talked about waiting for Inter’s match on Saturday night at the Stadio Olimpico, which is where he happened to make his Nerazzurri debut last 13 May: “I was happy, even though I only played 5 or 6 minutes. I was finally at Inter and it was an incredible joy for me. I never thought I’d become a starter. I wanted to do my job and I thank Stramaccioni for the trust he placed in me. The Lazio match will be a tough one. We’ll be facing a focused team and we hope to do well. We bagged a huge win against Napoli and now we’re closer to Juventus. Did we get carried away after the victory against Juve? We always try to work in the same way, against Juventus and everyone else.”

The Brazilian defender doesn’t shy away when the Scudetto is mentioned (“we always believe and I want to do everything to pull it off, because Inter are a great team and should do everything possible to win it”). And when he was told of the statements from Marco Tronchetti Provera, who yesterday confessed that he was pleasantly surprised by Fredy Guarin and Juan Jesus, he replied: “I’m happy because nobody knew me in Italy, but now something has changed. I hope to have 5 or 6 good years to show my worth. I want to be a part of Inter for a long time. The most beautiful thing I’ve experienced with the Nerazzurri so far was the victory at the Juventus Stadium. Who do I thank for all this? God, always, and Inter for bringing me here.” Finally, on the Brazilian national team: “First I think about Inter. And if I play well here then everything else could follow.”
