In an interview with Tuttosport, Inter’s second goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi talked about how it feels to see his old coach from the time at Sampdoria, Walter Mazzarri, at Inter:
After four seasons, you see Mazzarri again. How does it feel?
“I didn’t really expect it. When the season ended I didn’t think there would be any changes on the coaching bench, then Stramaccioni had to go and in came Mazzarri. I know him well, I know how he works and what he expects from the players. ”
Exactly. Mazzarri is…
“A man of football, relying heavily on the daily work. He is thorough and precise. I remember from the time at Sampdoria that he spent a lot of time to try the offensive and defensive systems. He wants to put a fair mark on the team’s play.”
What’s his secret?
“He talks a lot with the players, and even every day. Often in his office. He is a great communicator and it is important that he creates a good relationship with the team.”
What can your teammates expect from the training camp in Pinzolo?
“Intensity, for sure. Mazzarri has a balanced training method, where the workouts alternate between physique and technique.”
Is it important to not having to play the cups to start over?
“First and foremost it’s painful not to play in Europe. Obviously, we lost energy when we were in the Europa League last season because the games were always played the same day. Only preparing for one match a week will be an advantage in the league.”
What is not appreciated by Mazzarri?
“The fact that a player arrives late or answers, but if it works well, no one has anything to fear.”
Will Inter fight for the Scudetto right away?
“I don’t know, but we can perform a season at a different level. The fans deserve it and it will be important to start well.”
Will you return to the pitch in Pinzolo?
“The shoulder is not very sunburned. Dr. Castagna and Inter’s staff has done a good job. I’ll be 100% for training camp.
The future is still with Inter?
“Yes, because I still have a one year contract and I get on well. Last year my contract was extended by two years, apparently my work is appreciated.”
