Ricky Alvarez spoke to Inter Channel after the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 friendly draw with Hamburg, a game which saw him receive the captain’s armband after Esteban Cambiasso left the field.

“When Cuchu went off the gaffer told me to take the armband but I’m not the captain,” Alvarez explained. “Zanetti’s the captain and Cambiasso is vice-captain. Having said that, this will definitely be a game to remember for me because captaining Inter, especially for us Argentines, is a massive occasion.”

The midfielder went on: “It was a good test for us, our first major friendly match and against a team that started their pre-season before we did. We’ve started doing the things the coach wants us to do but we still have to improve a lot.”

“My chance to score? We carved out a few decent openings in the second half and we were closer to scoring. We came through a good test and we’re happy about that.”
