In today’s edition of Tuttosport a goal that Walter Mazzarri never really has forgotten is relaunched. It’s Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, Southampton’s striker who could become a subject of discussion when Marco Branca, Piero Ausilio and president Erick Thohir, who just arrived in Milan, will be meeting during the day. Coach Mazzarri is said to be so interested in the player that the first purchase in January might not be neither a winger nor a midfielder but a striker who can play alongside Rodrigo Palacio since neither Diego Milito, Mauro Icardi nor Ishak Belfodil for various reasons aren’t available or haven’t been convincing.

“As it has been noted that Edin Dzeko is the dream for the summer (Manchester City are requesting at least 20-25 million for the Bosnian), Inter’s first choice in attack is, in fact, a player who Mazzarri pointed out last summer, Osvaldo. The former Roma striker is one of the attackers that the coach from Tuscany regards as a modern central striker, complete, capable of playing both prima and secunda punta. After getting regular playing time during his first weeks in England, Osvaldo now has less space as a starting player in Southampton and the fact that he is one of the players who are being considered for a spot in the World Cup makes him consider his immediate future. The English club would not oppose a move but this summer they invested 15 million and have no intention of making a loss.”

The newspaper explains that the figure is high, but it will be difficult to pay less for a striker who can help the team in the hunt for Champions League.
