Curva Nord 120506

The Disciplinary Commission has closed the Curve at Inter, Roma and Lazio for discriminatory chants – locking them out during the Milan Derby.

The rules were adjusted midway through the season to allow the closure of only certain sections of the stadium rather than playing entire matches behind closed doors.

Today the Disciplinary Commission announced it would close the Curve at Inter, Roma and Lazio with fines worth €50,000 each. Lazio’s ban is a suspended sentence.

It is particularly important for Inter, as this means the Curva Nord will be empty for the Derby di Milano next Sunday. Inter are penalised for ‘discriminatory’ anti-Neapolitan chants heard at the Stadio San Paolo during last Sunday’s 4-2 defeat. As the Inter fans are repeat offenders, the Curva Nord will also be closed during the first home game of 2014 against Chievo.

According to the report from the referees the following chant was heard repeatedly: “Napoli merda, Napoli colera, sei la vergogna dell’Italia intera; puzza di merda puzza di cani, stanno arrivando i napoletani; voi non siete esseri umani” (Losely translated: “Napoli is crap, Napoli is cholera, you are a disgrace to the whole of Italy: they smell like shit they smell like dogs, napolitani are coming, you are not human beings”)
