Today Walter Samuel was a guest in InterNOS, Inter Channel’s program series featuring interviews with Inter players. The experienced Argentinian defender, who has played a key role in the two last victories, starts by thanking the Inter supporters: “Even when I personally have gone through rough times, they have always been very close to me. Maybe some of them are exaggerating when they say that they want to erect a statue of me, because I do not feel like I am important enough to deserve a statue. I am obviously very proud of having been and still being a part of Inter. My time here means a lot to me, I have won titles that I never thought I would win. I still feel important here”.
On the pitch, but also off it. Samuel continued with the subject of cooking and revealing who is the better chef between Cambiasso, Zanetti and himself: “Let’s say that we usually split the work up like this: I am in charge of the barbecue, il Cuchu is my assistant and Pupi sets the tables”.
“I put a lot of effort into everything that I do. I try to give what I can to the team because I think that our role is very important. If I like giving the younger players advice? That’s true, I would like to coach a youth team in the future becaus I think that my experience could be helpful for young players. In Serie A, everyone already knows about these small tricks”.
Samuel then answered more questions about the possibility of him having a future as a coach: “Right now I do not think a lot about it as I still want to play football, but I have already completed a course that lets me coach the youngest teams. I wrote an essay on the collective work in the defensive phase. I don’t know what I will be doing in the future, right now I am living for the day”.
When Walter was asked who his favourite partner in defense had been since he joined Inter, he smiled and thought back: “This is a question that people often ask me and it is always very hard to reply. I have played good with so many, when I first arrived it was Ivan Cordoba and Burdisso, then also Materazzi. Lucio and me also formed a good partnership in defense. I believe that if you take time to co-operate, you can do well with anyone”.
The Argentinian continues by commenting on his physical status: “We practise hard. Not just me, I believe that everyone who has played this season has done a good job. We only have the league to focus on, and therefore we can give a hundred percent in every game. After the game against Udinese it felt good, I had been waiting for my chance and the coach hade made his decisions. When we only have one game every week, everyone has to fight for a starting spot”.
To wear the captain’s armband after Zanetti and Cambiasso is something that Samuel remembers very well: “It was very emotional, I never thought that I would get to experience it: to captain a team like Inter is something really beautiful. But there is only one real captain: Javier Zanetti”.

Ranocchia never had much talent to start with. Trust me comes from my town in Italy and he is a year younger than me. He has the turning circle of a large ship. Incredibly slow and tactically immature. Good riddance.
Wow thats shocking, haha.. I didnt know him personally so I cant argue with you about that.
From my point of view he is just too picky, when he is coupled with Camp or Samuel, he played so damn good and even scored a goal. But when it is Rolando’s turn to became his partner he’s like shaky, confused and seems like he doesnt know what to do, he just didnt trust Rolando as much as he trusted Camp and Samuel. Thats why im quoting that words from Samuel there, I just feel sorry for him. Furthermore I appreciate attitude more than skills, skills and abilities can be trained, but good attitude? Its hard to find, thats what Ranocchia is lacking so much.
“if you take time to co-operate, you can do well with anyone” if only Ranocchia wanted to do and learn from this words of you. But its too late, such a big talent to waste on Ranocchia.
hero!
Forza Samuel!
Great player !!!
