In an interesting interview in the Spanish edition of GQ, Inter’s former number 7 Luis Figo talked about some interesting subjects. Here are some of the questions and the answers:

Do you like better to score goals or assist?
“It depends on the position on the field, considering that for each there are different tasks. Throughout my career I have made more assists than goals, logically this gave me emotions. Scoring is the result of a collective work after a week of work, but assists wouldn’t exist without the goal.”

Which was your best game?
“Hard to say, almost impossible, because I’ve played almost a thousand and I’m not good at preserving the memories of the past. If you ask me which was the worst I can tell you ( laughs). If I have to choose, however, I would say the semi-final of the European Championship in 2004 against the Netherlands.”

From which coach have you’ve learned more than the others?
“I’ve had so many: Cruyff, because he was my first foreign coach, Queiroz, Del Bosque and Scolari, as well as those who have helped me in my training.”

Which defenders where the hardest to overcome?
“Roberto Carlos, Maldini and Lizarazu.”

And the player that you admired more than any other?
“First of all Maradona for his qualities. On then second level are Zico, Laudrup and Van Basten.”

Among those who have played at your side?
“Ronaldo, Guardiola, Raul, Hierro, Zidane, Ibrahimovic, Veron, Rivaldo… There are so many.”

Has your year close to the technical staff at Inter made you want to coach ?
“Unless there comes an opportunity that I couldn’t give up I don’t see myself coaching at the moment. At this time in my life I want to devote myself to see my daughters grow. This is something that I can’t miss out on, they have already sacrificed so much in their lives.”
