biraghi catania

Left back Cristiano Biraghi, born in 1992, has proved to be one of the league’s best young left wingers during his first season in the Serie A. His performances for Catania even earned him a call-up by Cesare Prandelli to train with the national team. Inter and Cittadella will decide Biraghi’s future within a few weeks, although Cristiano admits to FcInterNews.it that all he wants now is to “finish off and go on vacation”.

Cristiano, how are you?
“It’s too bad that Catania got relegated. Obviously it hurts on a professional level, we are disappointed by how things turned out. We have given absolutely everything, but it wasn’t enough”.

How do you grade your first season in the Serie A?
“On a personal level I think I did well: I finished with 25 games played and of those 25 I played 22 from the first minute. I have grown a lot, most of all thanks to the great environment that we have here at Catania”.

The icing on the cake was the call-up from Prandelli.
“That’s true: the training camp was very important, because for me it was proof that I was doing a good job. The whole ambience surrounding the national team and to know that you were being directly observed by Prandelli, it all felt very special”.

And now it’s time for a holiday?
“Yes, I need to relax, then we’ll see what happens in July. I trust my agent and I am sure that we will find the solution that is best for me and my football career”.

What do you wish for?
“It’s important that I continue to grow like I have done here at Catania, a club where I really feel at home. My intention however is to stay in the Serie A. But we will know more in a month”.
