Jonathan new

Inter’s Jonathan says he considers himself 100% Brazilian but would still consider playing for Italy in future. The 28 year old wing back is eligible for the Gli Azzurri and was even linked with potential inclusion in Cesare Prandelli’s 30-man World Cup squad. However, in an interview with Terra, the defender admitted his omission was probably for the best as it keeps his dream of one day representing his homeland alive.

“It’s true, I could have been called up by Italy but in the end it didn’t happen and I’m fine with that. Now I will have a chance with Brazil after the World Cup,” Jonathan said.

“Maybe Prandelli understood that I am Brazilian and I want to play in a World Cup with Brazil. But I’m a footballer and I would still take the Azzurri chance if it meant playing in an international tournament.”

What did Prandelli say? “He said that he didn’t think I was convinced, but that he would think about it in case.” Jonathan also added “I’m not Italian, I’m 100% Brazilian, although I’m happy in Milan.”
