In an exclusive interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter’s Brazilian defender Juan Jesus talked about many topics: personal goals and team mistakes not to be repeated, first impressions about the new signings and a discussion on the rivals in the league. Here are his words:

RECOVERY AFTER INJURY – “I recovered as planned, also because I did have a holiday in order to return as good as possible.”

THE GOAL OBJECTIVE – “In the league I was stopped by the crossbar against Bologna, which would have given us two more points. My fellow defenders are very tall and strong on the head, so often coach Mazzarri asks me not to go up on set pieces to use my speed on a possible counter attack from the opponents. He wants me to concentrate and defense, not on the goals.”

NEW SIGNINGS – “I know Dodò well, because we also played together in Brazil’s Under 19 in 2009. He has technique, he can beat his man and pushes forward a lot. Regarding M’Vila, I can tell you that he is a beast, I have seen some of his matches when he was in France. He is physical and technical and can be a great help in a vital are. If you give up a lot of money like he did it means that you have monstrous motivation. On Vidic there’s little to say: his career, in which he won everything, speaks for itself. He is serious, humble, professional, it is an honor to train with him. We also share room and communicate in a mixture of English and Italian, but on the playstation I always win and he gets angry!”

DEFENSIVE STRUCTURE – “He’s right Nemanja when he says that it changes little between the defense of three and the defense of four, although playing with the second module in defense you risk often ending up two against two or one on one, while with three you have coverage. He however, he understands everything on the fly. With three I also believe you can easily change position with Ranocchia. The back four can give us an extra man in front, with the ability to have more ball possession in midfield.”

WHERE TO IMPROVE – “I can get better at everything from concentration to technique, especially with the right foot. I want to work hard to get to full maturity. Left back? I played in that position in Brazil.  It certainly would make little sense to have me as a winger like Jonathan or D’Ambrosio in a 3-5-2.”

DODÒ – “Competition with him? The spirit of the group remains a key aspect in a team that wants to win everything.”

OBJECTIVES – “With a strong team we can go far both in the league and in the Europa League.”

THE ARGENTINES – “Without them we have more responsibility. They had  won everything, the pressure was always on Cambiasso, Milito, Samuel and Zanetti, but now it’s up to us young people to open a new cycle. And we must do it quickly because Inter can not be without the Champions League anymore.”

LEADER – “I was captain in all youth teams. I’m Ready, I have broad shoulders”

A PHYSICAL INTER – “We will put more pressure on the opponents and we will be more dangerous on set pieces. We don’t want to repeat the same draws from last year. 15 are a lot and it made us lose 30 points! Absurd. We need to stay more focused until the last second. Sometimes we struggled to manage the game, but this season we have to give our lives. Every match will be a war. It’s unthinkable to still stay out of the Champions League. ”

CONTE’S FAREWELL TO JUVENTUS – “His farewell can reduce the gap because the coach was their ‘heart’ and ‘brain’, hammering the team every second. They lost something for sure, it can be an advantage.”

ROMA – “Iturbe is a great signing for Roma, but we don’t have to be afraid of anything. It’s necessary to always go out on the pitch with more anger than others.”

THE SCUDETTO – “Now it’s early, but if we’re always enter the pitch with the right anger we will get three points in every game.”
