“I’m excited, but I have great desire to prove all my worth and help bring these colors to the top. The championship has started, now we have to start winning. We need to improve the result of last season.” This is the opinion of Andrea Ranocchia, who spoke exclusively to the microphones of Sportmediaset. “I play to win and the team and the coach tries to give us knowledge to win. Thats the goal and what we’re working for, there is nothing else. Mazzarri has started this season energized with a group of new kids and young people who haven’t won much and who want to start an important path.”

FROM ALMOST GOODBYE TO THE CAPTAINCY – “Football changes in a second and for me it has changed my life. But the way it has changed for the better, it can change for the worse. Now it’s up to me to commit myself every day and work hard every day to conquer the spot and something important. Halfway through the league there was a difficult period, that happens. It happened already in the past and it will happen in the future. The past is the past, however, and we must look forward, engage ourselves and try to grow. It has been four years that could have taken me anywhere, but I’ve always been here and hope to stay here for a long time. Some call me captain already, but I’m Andrea and that’s okay.”

NEW LIFE IN THE NATIONAL – “The hope was to get a good start, we worked a lot in those few days and we had to try to do what the coach asked of us and I think we did pretty well. We won the first game of the qualifying round and we now expect a long process, but we have laid the foundation. Now we must absolutely continue because it is still a long way to go. Mazzarri or Conte better? They are two great coaches who want to win. I have had the good fortune to play with both of them. I play on the same position in both Inter and the national team, I am doing well and it is much easier for me. I have played in a defense of three for so many years and I feel good now and I’ve learned all the movements. I work to improve and give my best and to honor the shirt every time I wear it, both with the national team and with Inter.”

THE DANGEROUS SASSUOLO – “Zaza? I did not know him well, but these days I have seen how he moves and I think he will have a great future with our national team. Even though I know how to stop him on Sunday I will need help from the team of course. He’s ‘a great player and we’ll have to be very careful. Sassuolo has many players in the Under-21 national team like Berardi. It’s a good team and we have to keep our guard up.”

THE RACE FOR THE TITLE – “The championship is long, there are lots of games. After one round you don’t give verdicts. It’s going to be very balanced, with many teams involved in European competition. It’s going to be a great championship.”
