Dodo was undoubtedly one of the protagonists of Inter’s defeat of Atalanta, and after the game he spoke to Inter Channel. He started by talking about Hernanes’ stunning free kick which made it 2-0 to the Nerazzurri, given that it could easily have been him that stepped up to take it: “It’s often me or Hernanes who takes the free kicks but as he was on the bench today the coach told me I would take them. However, when Hernanes came on we agreed that he’d take them, and he did a very good job!

“It was not an easy one given where it was – very close to the area so there wasn’t much space to get it over the wall and back down again. We were trying to decide how to go about it, but it turned out well in the end and we’re all delighted.”

The Brazilian went on to discuss the team’s performance as a whole: “We started very strongly. We were up against a team full of good players and a very wily manager, but we managed to dig deep and get the win. It’s a great victory.”

Dodo then looked back to Sunday’s draw with Palermo: “After the match we were all angry; we were desperate to win. I think our second-half performance deserved the three points. We were taking risks towards the end, but if you don’t take risks you don’t reap the rewards.”

The midfielder concluded by touching on the real fighting spirit he’s been showing on the pitch: “I’ve always had a fierce competitive streak. Having players with big personalities inspires the team – players like Juan Jesus and Medel really spur you on. We’re a proper group and that’s vital.”
