Last Sunday, Icardi’s goal against Udinese proved that Maurito is doing his job, which generated rumours around him, news today states that Thohir is open to the idea of selling him in exchange for €25 million to finance the campaign of strengthening the squad in winter in line with the expectations of Mancini. FcInterNews.it, which probed sources close to the attacker wanted to clarify the rumours while his contract talks are in stand-by after weeks of speculation of all kinds.
First, it is almost impossible for Icardi to leave Inter in January, despite his many suitors ranging from La Liga (Atletico Madrid last summer came to offer €22 million for him) and the Premier League (Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and, new entry, Arsenal). The two parties will meet in the beginning of next month to close a renewal of the contract, I can’t guarantee that it will be for many years, then I can’t rule out a sale in June also, in the hope that his tally of goals this season increases which will also increase his value. However, the starting price would be €30 million, certainly not the 25 assumed earlier.
Regarding the extension of his contract, the situation is rather fluid. The player, which now receives €1 million, would like to earn like his more-contributing-to-the-team team mates Therefore, the demand comes close to €3 million, not far from what Inter proposed. The image rights issue will be solved, and will be discussed calmly, as Icardi already has contracts in place on a personal level.

And what we’ve gonna get with those 25 millions? Cerci and Lucas Leiva??? And how we’ll manage with only two strikers Osvaldo and totally out of shape Palacio to the end of the season? That’s ridiculous! Icardi is 21 this season have 8 goals in Serie A and 4 in Europa League. It’ll be stupid to sell him that early, his price will only rise up in coming years. Why not instead, trying to sell guys like Guarin, Ranocchia and Jonathan?
Sell the crap and buy something that can reinforce the team, if we’re selling Icardi too they should come up with a decent replacement otherwise theres no point, but hey this is Inter so anything is possible. Maybe Johnny in attack for the second half of the season..
a team always needs 4 important players, one in each line of the field e.g. gk-df-mid-att. I would not sell icardi for less than 40mio. Think of how he will perform when he gets more experience – he’s only 21 now. This guy is one of the best up and coming strikers there is. With him kovacic and juan, inter can build a solid team for the future. But, young players must be prioritized instead of old ones (hernanes- even though he is a favorite of mine). only this way inter can be good again, by raising young talents and keep them to their prime. A player will only rise in price until he reaches 26, its utter BS to sell an important player, unless the price is inflated, before that age.
And one more thing, I hope tohir is more consistent regarding formations than moratti has been. constant changes in formation wastes resources as you have to buy the ones you are missing to complete the requirements of the formation. to even consider a manager with 3-5-2 when your team is build for 4-3-1-2 smells expensive a long way. i guess what I’m trying to say is that i hope inter handles its business smarter under tohir than has been done before. you would assume that business-people (moratti, etc) want to have some sort of cost control and value maximization thinking.
Honestly, i find it hard to believe anyone would pay 40 mio for him..
of course not. the whole team are in deep crisis. when you underperform you’re not worth a shit. if inter could be lucky for once and get a assist man like cerci was to immobile, then watch his price sky-rocket – as he’s going to be a goal-machine. besides, he’s only 21.
coutinho is a perfect example. he was struggling, but he performed in spain and rodgers saw that – branca didn’t. he was sold for +/- 12 mio (!!!) thats how bad form gets you. He’s doubled that value now. probably he will also become better as he’s only 22.
My point: somehow inflate the price or develop the player by loan or first team play incrementally.
Well Coutinho is a story for itself. He was never really given a proper run in the first team and when he did play, he was usually played out of position. It was like they just wanted him to fail on top of that i feel like Liverpool just put out a random number at Inter seized the opportunity to get some cash out of it. Dreadful actions from super Branca. I mean what were they thinking??
totally agree with you. i don’t know how branca actually did this deal or what he was thinking. glad he’s gone now
for 30 plus euro we should let him go, and spend the money on a couple of wingers, defenders and Osvaldo. for anything less we should keep this young killer in the box and sell dead woods in stead: Guarin, kuz, naga, jonathan, Ranno etc.
