After last week’s comments of the former German world cup winner and Inter player that angered many Nerazzurri fans, the former midfielder strikes again, this time criticizing Serie A as a whole:
“Inter are no longer the team of the past, Serie A has lost its charm due to many scandals and outdated infrastructure. In the 90s, Inter and AC Milan boasted the likes of Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Hansi Muller, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Nowadays, most of the big name players play in England, Germany, or Spain; not in Italy.”
Then he mentioned Podolski who attacked him earlier through his official twitter account criticizing his coaching career:
“Inter are badly placed in the Serie A table, it is up to Podolski to prove himself.”

Man, I definetely don’t like the articles you write. They are so biased. Matthaus is part of Inter history one of the best players to wear the inter shirt. That team with Matthauss, Brehme was fantastic… So, nobody who calls himself an interisti can talk crap about him. He is not critizing inter or the players, he is just saying the truth, the same truth we (as fans), Nima, Siavoush and everybody else are aware of and keep repeating all the time. Serie A and Inter are considered mediocre at this moment.

I don’t believed Matty’s words all that vicious. He meant well and all should take this as a motivation, especially the FIGC and all major clubs including Inter needs to upgrade fast or the Serie A will lost more grounds.
Inter, under Thohir should heed Matty’s words and built their own stadia to ensure major haul of profits coming from every matches that counts and while San Siro is a temple of football, it isn’t wholly owned by any of the Milanese clubs.
And, the match game time also should be revised to meet with other continents prime time, like what they did in England that have proof to be such a huge success!
Serie A cannot survive alone from local competition, nor does will it exceed only from local fan base.

he’s talking about the truth.
serie a is falling behind, and they need work hard to catch up with the top three (bpl, bundesliga, la liga).
he also told the truth when he said we’re mediocre at this moment.
and he also true regarding Poldi, expectation is high and he need to prove it on the field.

Agree with you. He just stated facts. Nobody should feel offended. He is not even talking about the future of any league or being pessimistic about Serie A. He is just talking about the current situation of Inter and Serie A in general, which we all are aware of. I hope people don’t start insulting him because he is one the greatest players to wear the inter shirt. Who is just speaking up his mind. I have been watching/following Serie A for the last 18 years myself, and all this time I’ve seen the league fall behind England, Spain and Germany. I think Even Portugal have a higher UEFA coefficient now. So, I don’t think the league will improve to be the best in the world in the next 10 years. Hopefully, one of the top 3 but not the best one.

serie A lost their charm for temporary , la liga, bundes liga would lost their charm soon and serie A will rise again. i believe thohir would buy san siro or make new inter stadium then moderenize it. i acknowledge that we’re fall but why do we fall ? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.
precisely!
tho this time serie a will be even stronger and not just a 3 horse race. Roma and napoli have joined as massive clubs with fiorentina right around the corner also lazio too. then you have a growing parma with the new owners.
yeah man those team really had potentials ,let the time answer that.

Im sure in at least 10 years or something Serie A will be better than the Bundesliga (not economical), it would be phenomenal if Poldi would score against Juve 😉 im sure he will watch the game hahah

relax, it’s just a bad cycle for Italian League.
BPL or La Liga would collapse in near future if they spend like this every season. Didn’t he see the similarities between BPL or La Liga now and Italy back then.
Only Bundesliga did their homework good.
