Inter has made two big signings this transfer session. After the arrival of Josef Lukas Podolski, the Nerazzurri gave coach Roberto Mancini another offensive gift: today at Appiano Gentile it was Xherdan Shaqiri’s moment, and after sitting on the bench in the victory against Genoa the fans of Inter can’t wait to see him at work, perhaps already during the trip to Empoli. The whole day is dedicated to the talent from Gnjilane, who was presented to the press, media and fans. Our partner FcInterNews, present at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre, gives us the statements of talented former Basel and Bayern Munich player.
Coach Roberto Mancini opened the presentation: “We are here for the presentation of Xherdan, there is no need to add a lot of words. He is a great player who comes from Bayern Munich.”
Why did you choose Inter? Your will has always been clear.
“I had other offers, but my will has always been clear. The coach introduced me to the project, his words convinced me and now I want to help the club return to high levels. Although there were other opportunities, I have always and only wanted Inter.”
How did San Siro effect you, waiting of the official debut?
“I was impressed by the fans on my arrival, it was a unique experience and I’ll never forget it. I will also remember the first steps with the coach and my teammates. I can’t wait to play and make my debut.”
What did you learn from players like Ribery and Robben during your experience at Bayern Munich?
“I think every player is different from the next, even if I don’t like comparisons. Each one has its own characteristics, even though I had the chance to play with great players at Bayern Munich. I will try to build on all the things I have learned to be useful here Inter, hoping to get back to winning with this team.”
At Bayern Munich you lost the smile? In your opinion, what is your best shot?
“I was not totally happy and everyone became aware of this. Now I want to get back to playing and only by doing that I can be happy, being able to prove myself. I’m hungry to win and I want to go do it with Inter. The feelings are good, I am sure that we will return to high levels.”
How close were you to Juventus? Is the third place possible?
“Reading the newspapers it seems as if I have had contacts with many teams, but my brother has worked very hard. Juventus, of course, was one of the options. But I only wanted Inter, I can’t wait to play, and the third place is within our reach. We got points during the weekend and I’m sure we can get back up.”
Did you ask anyone for information on Inter before speaking with Mancini?
“There was no need to talk to anyone, Inter is known by all and the history of this club speaks for itself. Inter has won everything and great players have played here. My brother has a very good relationship with Piero Ausilio, so there wasn’t any kind of problem.”
Do you think that you, with your arrival, will bring more Albanians fans to the stadium? How do you feel physically? Do you think you’re ready for the next game?
“I realized that there are a lot of Albanian fans of Inter. I was born in Kosovo, ‘twin’ of Albania. Inter has fans all over the world and this is something I have known for some time. The Inter fans are not only Albanians. I trained all week with the team, I hope to play and I have positive feelings.”
How do you think you will be able to deal with a difficult championship like the Italian one?
“In football you can’t make personal plans, we go on the pitch to do the best and win. We are Inter and we have always have to think about reaching as high as we can. I want to be in a winning club, I will try to give my contribution. It will not be easy to always win, but we’ll try.”
Did Rummenigge tell you about Inter?
“No, it wasn’t necessary to talk to him. Inter is known to everyone, it was clearly my will and I want to return to the top with this shirt.”
FcIN – Before making the final decision, did you get to confront Guardiola? What differences have you noticed between the ‘Giuseppe Meazza’ and the ‘Allianz Arena’?
“I talked a little with the Spanish coach, he knew that my intention was to change clubs. As for the arenas, there are differences: San Siro is beautiful, but the bad thing in Italy is the attendance numbers. I hope those things can change with good football.”
The Inter fans have expressed their enthusiasm also through social networks, what do you think about that? What fascinates you in Italian football?
“Ausilio told me everything, it’s nice to know that the fans wanted me so much and I realized this also against Genoa. In Italy you don’t score as much as in the Bundesliga, but we want to play a good football and try to score the highest possible number of goals.”
Despite the big offers, what prompted you to choose Inter? Considering that Italian football is going through a difficult period.
“I think that when a player chooses a club he also considers the effort that was made by the club. This also led me to choose Inter. I wanted to change the country, but now the results count in order to get Inter to the top.”
A winger or attacking midfielder in 4-2-3-1: what is the favorite position?
“At Bayern I proved my versatility, now it’s up to Mancini choose the best role for me. Personally I prefer the position as playmaker, but any position is fine.”

what the hell is a Juve fan doing here? Mind your own business and go sign a European referee to help you win CL.
“I was born in Kosovo, ‘twin’ of Albania.” Well said, Xherdan. Gretings from Inter fan from Kosovo. 🙂
“I talked a little with the Spanish coach, he knew that my intention was to change clubs. As for the arenas, there are differences: San Siro is beautiful, but the bad thing in Italy is the attendance numbers. I hope those things can change with good football.”
the spanish coach 😀 hahahaha. that “spanish coach” seems always had problem with players in every team he coached 😀
Great !!! I also will be getting his Jersey
Wow! You gotta love this kid. I am looking forward to see him in the pitch. He decided to leave Bayern despite their great season. I am sure most players would have stayed there just for the possibility of putting a champions league title on their belts. Instead he came to inter rejecting Ruve in the process. WOW. I am going to get me his jersey ASAP
Deki 2.0
What a statement this signing is from inter. I absolutly love it!
Poor juventus fans. HAHA
LOL ! Juve fans are saying “Poor Inter fans” you forget that Juve are in 1st AGAIN ! and on pace for their 4TH SCUDETTO IN A ROW !!
*yawn* I’m bored of you, why don’t you be a good little juventus fan and support the referee *wink*
Although he just wants to provoke Inter fans, he didn’t say anything wrong. I’m sure that Juve fans aren’t crying over this transfer, maybe they will in a couple of years, but not now. They won 3 scudetto’s in a row, and they will probably win this year too. Inter didn’t even came close to winning the title in 4 years so I would say poor Inter fans, poor me.
what about jube in europe pathetic juve pathetic juve fans
They are playing Cl, we’re not, they win again. They are in a better situation , there is no shame in admitting it..
every club have ups and downs but inter will never fall so deep like jube did in serie B yes they are currently in better situation but dont worry that they will win CL any time soon
The fact that shaqiri chose inter (the team which isn’t competing for anything) over juventus (who are going for 4th scudetto) is why the whole thing sucks for juve…. if conte was coach, he would have brought shaqiri to juve… so yeah as inter fans, we have a right to brag about this transfer because it’s a win in all aspects
they won scudetto with many dubious decision. so poor rubentus fans thinking he much better than us
why don’t you support the italian nation team by SUPPORTING JUVENTUS !!
Well… i’m not italian… i don’t support italy…. XD
i’m not surprised……why else is inter’s attendance down 30 %
So having non-italian fans lowers attendance in the stadium… what drugs are you on? May I have some?
there’s no inter fans in italy to fill the stadiums you dumbass !!
Aww, getting worked up big guy? Don’t worry I won’t hurt you no more 🙂
well it’s true !!
seriously branca.. i was stupid enough to comment on this article and this spamming of responses is filling my email. please just drop the topic and wait for the next interesting news-thread to appear and discuss something there. thank you:)
well it’s true ! trying to increase the asian market is pointless if they are not buying a ticket to watch inter play at home………but who can blame inter fans in italy for not watching this crappy 9th place team play !
What a stupid thing to say when Inter always has a higher attendance than Juve. Every year for a long time except very recently. And you will see next year we will have higher average attendance then too. Do you research first kid so you don’t embarrass yourself hahaha. Makes it even more pathetic with you other argument on how Inter is not supported in Italy AND STILL HAVE HIGHER ATTENDANCE AVERAGE THAN YOU PATHETIC CLUB! Hahahahahah
Attendance is based on percentage of capacity so,explain to me how 70% capacity for inter compares to 100% capacity for juventus? And secondly, only juve enjoys the luxury of keeping 100% of game day revenues for themselves. So how is inters plans, for a new stadium coming along ? Guess they are still stuck in the stone age….
Percentage? You would say anything just to try and prove us wrong. Even something as stupid as this. Hey maybe Palermo will be a 15 thousand seater and be at 100 percent tof lol. The fact is more fans in Italy go see inter than Rube which is especially hilarious here considering how you have been talking shot about how Inter has no fans in Italy. I even remember reading articlestrying to explain Juve low attendance year after year when they were at the Delel Alpi.
Ac Milan has 8000 people watch coppa Italia, juve sold out 40,000 people, when you talk pont the facts not crap. If I want to read crap….well, I read this site !
Haha well considering how often you have been posting here lately, you must LOVE CRAP lmao. Which makes sense since you support a cheating scumbag club. And kid, you keep using specific examples to counter my big picture points. Very weak.
Inter attendance is down 30 % yet ac Milan are, doing good so its not like the city is doing bad its just inter and that is all the proof required to,prove my point!!
GRANDE SHAQIRI… i have a feeling that he will be our new Ronaldo ( the brazillian Ronaldo which played for INTER , not the DIVA )
you mean the next “ROLANDO” right 😛
Forza Shaqiri! can’t wait for him to make his debut
In other words, Inter guaranteed him first team football and threw a huge contract at him.
Hardly a huge contract hahaha. Liverpool offered close to double.
