What are your thoughts on Empoli?
”They’re a great team with a very good coach and many young players. Its a difficult to win at their ground and we will have to be careful and play to perfection.”
Will the next three games reveal the team’s ability?
”We think of our opponents one at a time, and prepare well for games. Its simple – now we think seriously about Empoli. After tomorrow, we will think of the Italian Cup and Torino.”
Will you field the same defense that you put out against Genoa?
”We will decide tomorrow morning.”
Your thoughts on Kovacic?
”Kovacic always gives quality. He can be decisive in every game but he needs to improve in certain areas and positions. He has improved every game though.”
How many minutes does Shaqiri have on his legs?
”He trained well during the week but I don’t think he will be able to play an entire game.”
What about M’Vila and Osvaldo?
”M’Vila needs to play – he’s been working separately these days. In the coming days we will see his intentions. I’m sorry to not be able to give chances to those who want to play. Osvaldo is training aswell and we will see what happens in the coming days.”
You’ve always made great comebacks in your career. In what position would you like to make a comeback this season?
”I never think this way. Every situation is difficult and unique. We will try to be focused. We are behind and it is important to keep the group together and earn points. We will see what happens in the end.”
If you don’t select Ranocchia, would it be because he is not too good?
”No, he’s a good player. The more the team plays, the more changes will happen. With time, changing one or two players will not create a problem. There may also be Ranocchia on the bench at some point.”
Where do you see Hernanes on the field?
”In my opinion, he can play as a central midfielder, on the flanks, and as an attacking midfielder. He is not 100% but when the time comes, we will use him as we see fit.”
Has Osvaldo asked to join Juventus?
”I’ve never talked to him – I hope the best for him.”
In what condition is Palacio?
”He is not 100% available. But when there are so many games, he will have to be benched sometimes. Podolski and Shaqiri can offer us alternatives.”
Why is Osvaldo no longer Inter’s best solution?
”For Osvaldo, it is an issue with the club. I do not think it is right to speak.”
From FcIN: Did Vidic perform as you expected?
”Vidic has a improved his attitude and is physically getting better. I think his condition declined as he did not play for a month. He must find the best condition, but he has great experience and I am happy with his performance. I hope it continues.”
From FcIN: If Osvaldo departs, will Palacio be enough to fill in the gap at the top?
”We have three players suited to play as the lone striker, and there are others who can play behind. I think we will be fine.”
