Inter legend and current vice president Javier Zanetti spoke about the club’s recent form as he appeared on Deejay Football Club: “Obviously, there are still areas where we can improve, but I think our two Serie A wins in a row and good result in Glasgow will give the team confidence. It wasn’t easy to strike the right balance, but Mancini is working hard to get us playing a certain way. He loves the club, and results are starting to come now.”

Asked about the Nerazzurri’s objectives for the last part of the season, Zanetti declared: “It’s going to be very tough to get third place because there are a lot of teams ahead of us. We have to give it a go though – we’ve got nothing to lose.”

The conversation then moved on to focus on some of the stand-out names in the current Nerazzurri crop: “Is Shaqiri like Sneijder? They’re very much alike in the sense that they’re both capable of winning you a match. They can spring a team-mate in behind with a single pass. Icardi? I’ve spoken with him. He needs to realise that you can make mistakes in the heat of the moment. He understood right away that he’d made a mistake – we love our fans at this club.”

“Santon? He’s come back a lot more mature and is very confident in his abilities now. His experience in England has done him no end of good. Even in his first few appearances, you can really see that he’s grown as a player,” continued Zanetti.

The interview concluded with a few words on the Zanetti Story biopic, which will be broadcast live via satellite on Friday 27 February at 20:30 CET and repeated at 22:45 CET: “I loved it! It’s not too long, so there’s no chance of you getting bored…”
