At today’s pre-game press conference at the Appiano Gentile ahead of the return leg against Celtic FC, head coach Roberto Mancini chose to bring Fredy Guarin with him to face the journalists. FcInterNews.it were present to hear what the Colombian had to say:
Have you finally found your best role on the field?
Things are going well. I like playing in this position and the team allows me to perform at my best.
Do you feel like you have reached a breakthrough on a mental level since the beginning of the season?
I always want to do my best and I am always thinking of how to improve. I have always worked as hard as I could and now there is no doubt that I have proven that I have the capacity to do well.
You have been through several different midfield roles, is this the one that works best for you?
If I do well in this role, it’s thanks to the team. With my characteristics I can make the most of their work.
What has kept you from performing at your best until now?
Several things. In the three years I have been here, many factors have been working to my disadvantage but they’re all gone now. At the moment I am only interested in the present, and that is what I want to talk about. We have important challenges ahead of us and we need to do well.
If you were in charge of Inter management, would you keep Icardi?
Yes, definitely.
Since Mancini arrived you have been more consistent..
The confidence from the technical staff has been very important to us all. It is an extra bonus to always feel the support from your coach and it helps you to grow.
FcIN – How happy are you that you didn’t sign for Juventus?
I am very happy because it was not an easy decision, but now I am happy. I wanted this moment to come. Now I am here to fight with the team and I hope to experience some beautiful moments after three tough years.

It’s easy to praise when everything is going well and to criticize when going wrong. I’ve watched enough from Guarin and as Ricky Alvarez i still think that he’s good player, but too inconsistent and can’t handle when he’s on the pressure. I’m happy to see him in a good shape, but i don’t believe that he can play whole season on the high level. In my opinion this summer is the right time to make good money from him, he’s not very young and soon will be over his prime. Meanwhile i can’t deny that he have leadership qualities. From today’s prospective Vucinic – Guarin swap looks like one of the worst deals ever and I’m happyt hat Thohir listened in the fans voice.
Some Interisti are about to start sucking on Guarin dick again.
me i am waiting for him to play half a season (18) games CONSISTENTLY on a high level
Just enjoy it while it lasts, we don’t know when or if he will flop again
Exactly, same thing i’m afraid of
Why are you waiting for him to play 18 games consistently if you’re a JuBentini? Why would you want to watch so many Inter games on a regular basis? I never knew any Interisti who would want to watch 18 JuBe games, for example. Highlights maybe, but full matches? No. I think you might have just shed another clue of your true identity: a closet fan of a certain football club perhaps? 😉
actually i am a DIE HARD inter fan and only using this name to spite “i miss marco branca” dude. Guarin has been inconsistent since he joined us and all i’m saying is its not going to take 4 or 5 games to jump on the band wagon, let him play half a season consistently before we can say he is great.
Eat this…
I am very happy for you to Fredy.
FORZA INTER!
always do the best guaro.. don’t dissapointed interista..
you should be captain!
