Inter pass to the next phase of the Europa League but not without problems. The victory against a ten man Celtic didn’t come until the 87th minute, but it is enough. Here is what Roberto Mancini said right after the game:
“We risked a lot in the beginning, a goal there would change the whole game. Then after their red card things got easier. It is too early to talk about where we can finish, we are improving but we still always commit mistakes. When we stop committing mistakes we can say that we are doing better. We should have scored earlier to be calmer. Guarin has always shot like this, maybe before he insisted more on holding on longer to the ball but with his runs from behind he becomes dangerous. We neeed to improve under every aspect.”
Mancini then continues: “We are improving, we need to run fewer risks in defense. It needs to be more protected by the midfield and we should not lose the five, six balls that can cause the counter attack. The change of tactics? To stretch out the opponents and the play. This way we held on to possession and it was an advantage for us. They were tighter today when they didn’t have the ball and we did not get the same spaces in attack like we did the last game. When they were attacking we were not fast enough to close the space between midfield and defense, Hernanes and Guarin stayed too high on the pitch. I hope all Italian teams go through for the Uefa-ranking.

Mancio should have make some changes in the 2nd half bringing Kovacic for inept Hernanes. And Puscas could start instead of the rudderless Palacio. But i think Mancio already had the draw in his mind before the game but yet when on numerical advantage he didn’t until the very last quarter hour before the final whistle. I ranked Mancio 5/10.
I rank yourself 10 out of millions
a comment or compliment? i can’t make out off it! xD
Results improved a little bit, but we’re still too far from what we have to be. I know that it’s not easy and everything needs more time, but if Mancini likes tonight’s Inter, i don’t. If you win so hard against 10 mens and mediocre at best team like Celtic, it’s not good at all. I don’t like the attitude of the coach and the players, we were to cautious and afraid to not concede against ten men mediocre Celtic. In defense there’s not good organization at all, from the whole team and on the personal level. In attack we’re too slow and predictable, waiting for opponents mistakes or some individual glimmers.
bus-parking 10 men though
WHEN INTER WERE THE MASTERS OF COMEBACKS…
2004/2005 season sampdoria leading 2-0 up up to minute 88 when Martinez (one of my favorite inter players during that period) smacks a low drive to the far post and score the beginning of legendary comeback, in minute 90 he sprints through defenders to the box and latch the ball with an air kick back into the box to find vieri who equalize, before a joint effort from Zaniti sends Reccoba a ball from out side the box for a sweet victory in the 93rd minute the dying minute of the game …. Mancini was there.. does he tell the players those stories, or its only engraved in the memory of a fan like myself…. I MISS YOU GRNADA INTER
One of the best match I have ever seen.. Just a small correction, it is obafemi martins not martinez
good memory, between all the Martines and and Martins you have in Serie A its hard to remember 😉
ahh obafemi!! couldn’t make out who this martinez was. 🙂
FORZA MANCIO!
