Gazzetta dello Sport delivers news this morning regarding the Inter’s defensive line. According to the paper Filipe Luis is once again a target, the Chelsea player seems on his way out from London. Luis is Brazilian but has an Italian passport. José Mourinho has given Luis permission to look for another club, his former team Atletico Madrid are also interested. Roberto Mancini has him on top of list since quite some time and has been in contact with the player. For the right flank there is talk about a bid for Barcelona’s Martin Montoya (8 million).

okay, miranda and luis are gonna bring inter to the next level 🙂 . about imbula: good players are everywhere and it doesn’t matter if they’re known or not you just have to find them. (hulk was playing in the Japanese 2nd division before porto signed him).

I know no player is bigger than inter, but kovacic has the potential to be a world class player, and I want to see him achieve that at inter. Besides kovacic is already a very crucial player for inter in my opinion and honestly is it worth it to sacrifice kovacic for imbula and for a 30 year old defender who even though is world class but lets be honest he is past his prime

Mancini > Kovacic are you really making that a debate? What has Kovacic done for inter? If you just started following its understandable but Mancini is the most winning coach in inter history. It shouldn’t even debatable or discussed who’s more of an asset and important to this club and its history

well it is worth it. imbula and luis will contribute to inter far more than kovacic. imbula is only 22 and has shown great charctor under one of the best coaches (bielsa). he runs their midfield alone next to two wingbacks, he is far more reliable. and luis a world class play that brings the winning mentality that we’ve been missing for a long time . do we really need to wait on a player until he becomes great(the same way we waited on alvarez?) while we’ve been a midtable team for the past 4 years!! when we can sell him for a huge price ? the positives far outweigh the negatives for sure….. ideally i would like a midfield of kovacic-motta-imbula. but we’re lacking money so selling kovacic might be a possibility.

it’s a bad thing because kova has the potential to be miles better than imbula ever will be or luis ever has been
yeah but potential only gets you so far.
it would be stupid to sell the future for the present. kova is the type of player who will make us a much stronger side for the next 10 years. just because he isn’t at that level this year isn’t a reason to sell him. he’s only 21!
in an ideal world he should, but money shortages might force inter to sell him. i’m fine with that.

wowww, it would be awesome if we can get him. our defense line would be enough with addition him, miranda and Murillo.
and with imbula or kondogbia, plus additional wing forward, the whole team would be ready to challenge top spots next season.

crisetig played for relegated cagliari, while imbula was backbone for 4th place marseille, played almost whole season.
I don’t like this idea. Filipe Luis will cost us at least 18m. Chelsea will not accept player+cash deal. Plus, Filipe Luis is 30 year old. Instead, we should go for Darmian. We can offer cash+player to Torino since Torino is not Chelsea. Ausilio should offer Benassi+Obi+10m for Darmian. I think Torino will accept this offer. I wanna see Darmian, Miranda, Ranocchia and Santon in our defense next season.
just give toro lord rano and lord guaro in pack for darmian and its all set!!

This would be soooooooo good. Getting Miranda and Filipe Luis in a single season. Then again there were rumors that Atleti would take Luis back if Mourinho is willing to sell, let’s see how it plays out.
If Luis arrives I’d be okay even if we don’t get Montoya; I’d love it if we sign Imbula in the coming days and then go for Motta (then if that doesn’t work there is talk that Thohir will invest in a more expensive target – personally praying for Allan) and finally the attack – Jovetic or Salah.
It would be sooo great, even though I prefer to have new right back. In left back we could have jesus with defensive minded and maybe dodo or santon with attacking minded. But in right side we dont have a good defensive right back, maybe ambro but he’s not enough.
Motta seems prefer atl. Madrid rather than us. Melo might be the back up plan, but Z i also personally like Allan. But Melo would be cheaper and more experienced.
To be honest, I’ve had Santon down as a starter for next season for a while now, so considering the fact that he can play on either side of the pitch, I’d put him on the right side with Filipe on the left; both are adept in attack and defense 🙂
I wouldn’t give JJ a starting spot in any position next season, especially not with Murillo and Miranda arriving and if a player like Luis comes.
I still have faith with jesus, especially with miranda arrival. Miranda is the perfect examplary for him and murillo.
Either of these two would be perfect imo.
I think you cannot just replace 3 defenders out of 4. It is too risky and not sustainable. To be realistic, Ranocchia has extended his contract, so he will definitely be in starting XI since he is a captain. If Miranda comes, I think Mancini will play him alongside Rano. At this moment Miranda >>> Murillo
To be honest, I think anything is more sustainable than having the kind of defense we had last season.
As specifically concerns Ranocchia – I’d kick him out in a heartbeat (I’d even sell him and Vidic and get someone else who is a better defender than Ranocchia and demands smaller wages than Vidic) – though I am aware that considering the fact that he has the armband he will play.
But I value Murillo more than him, since he’s had a good season with Granada and is having a terrific Copa America.
At best, I’d rotate him with Miranda and JJ with Murillo.

That’s not where Kovacic plays. Kovacic plays where you have Imbula in that formation.
“motta/allan” would be where you have him atm.
Also that team 6 new players. Look at the midfield, what about Brozovic and Medel? we basically just signed them. Guarin can go, Hernanes has no place in the first formation and I think he should go aswell, he’s a good player but he’s not better than Shaqiri.
If he’s partnered by physical and hard working players like Allan and Imbula – Kovacic can play as a regista in my opinion because he will be covered by a much stronger defense and a much stronger midfield (in a defensive, covering sense).
If it’s Motta, then probably Motta would be the regista with defensive qualities and Kovacic would retain his current role.
But Kovacic played briefly as a regista under Stramaccioni, did very well because he easily found space to pass the ball around and to run around with it himself – this ultimately changed because Kovacic himself lacked defensive quality and because the defense + midfield partners were desperate in defending.
As for Brozovic and Medel – they’d still get a lot of space to play in, but we need to provide depth.
Kovacic is quite fast and he likes to dribble, which is why I don’t want him to be tied down to a defensive role. He’s the best passer in the team which is I think why you put him there.
Having midfielders around him who can fallback and defend would give him a chance to go on his little runs, but then our midfield becomes too defensive and would rely on him alone to get the ball forward.
Hmm but that’s the thing, I’m not under the impression that he would be tied down. Mateo often needs space to find the right pass, space he would get as a regista.
Allan and Imbula would fall back, but also have offensive qualities (both made significant offensive contributions in their respective teams this past season).
Considering that Mancini likes his team to press far up front to get the ball back, they are ideal for this and would give Mateo the necessary freedom to roam and move the ball around.
What about Brozovic? We just signed him this last transfer window.
A rotation alternative for either Imbula or Allan.
Will be VERY useful when we eventually qualify for Europe, and I think that having serious competition for his spot will motivate him more than having Guarin as competition and still not playing ahead of him all the time.
Reminds me like seneijder did after 2010 era,we only rely on him to get the ball forward. We need strong connection in midfilder not only for deffense but how to distribure ball as well as 1 – 2 triangular pass in mid we shown at 2010. Frefy and Kuz had failed to become Motta – cambiasso. Might be work if we try with medel – imbula for our midfield barrier purpose

The 8m price tag is for Montoya, Luis will cost considerably more, though maybe with a loan + buy formula.
I’d love Darmian too, but I can’t see it happening.
darmian will probably be 25MM, while montoya is only 8. i’d definitely prefer montoya over darmian
