On the show ‘Os Donos Da Bola’ on the Brazilian tv channel Band Minas, Juan Jesus gave an interview regarding his journey with Inter. Mancini’s number 5 was given the opportunity to speak about his development in Milan, also in terms of character, and about his future that he hopes still will be colored black and blue, raising the ambitions of the club. “This year did not go well because we could not achieve our objectives, which were to qualify for the Champions League, winning the Europa League and the Coppa Italia. Now we work to return to fight for the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia.”

With Mancini he ended the season playing at full-back: “I’m always available to help the group. They needed me to play full-back and I do it without protest.” Then he commented on the lower number of cards collected since he arrived in Serie A: “I have improved a lot in this respect, before I protested a lot even though I was new and not captain. Now I’ve learned to communicate more peaceful.”

For an Inter chasing there is a Juve that does not seem to be willing to let them catch up: “They have played together for eight or nine years and have a base that is already well established. But it took time, because from 2005 to 2010, while Inter won everything, Juve was often criticized. Today the situation has changed. If there weren’t Inter and Milan Juventus would play in a league of their own.”

Chapter Seleçao: does Juan ever think of a return to the national team? “I don’t have this objective at hand. I only focus on training and working well with Inter, I know I’m young and that there will be time to return to Seleçao. In defense there is so much competition with Miranda, Thiago Silva, David Luiz and Marquinhos. I hope to play my best season, then we’ll see.”

His contract with Inter lasts until June 2018, but the Brazilian is not tempted to change shirt: “Return to Brazil? No way. I’m fine here, if I could I would stay even ten or fifteen years at Inter. Because Inter is a great club even though it is now going through a difficult time. The team has always played in the Champions League and won the championships. It is only a matter of time before it gets back to the top.”

He ends with an anecdote about the former captain Javier Zanetti, who before retiring had indicated that Juan could be his possible successor: “Only two people in the dressing room has been wearing this shirt for more time than me. In the running to act as captain was me, Ranocchia and Guarin. But since Ranocchia is Italian the leadership preferred it to be him. Even to discuss with the referees, although I talk to them, because I speak Italian well. I agreed because when Ranocchia is not there I become captain. I play to help, I do not need the armband. What it means to be chosen by Zanetti? He’s a good person, a very calm one. The story speaks for itself. I am there to help and maybe even reach some of what he reached.”
