Updates regarding the injury of Nemanja Vidic came earlier this evening. The Serbian defender will have to undergo back surgery to be able to continue playing football. He will be operated at Humanitas di Rozzano by professor Fronari who performed the same operation on Gigi Buffon a couple of years ago. The hernia of Vidic is not as serious as the one Buffon had so the defender should be at the disposal of Roberto Mancini within 3-4 months.

He still got two years on his contract and he’s already gonna miss half of this one after the below par year he had the previous term. Can we pay him a fee and just terminate his contract ?

Thorir and Mancini now should consider purchasing center back cover with Udinese £6 rated Frenchman Thomas Heurtaux and Espanyol’s Mexican International Hector Moreno rated at £5 both players have been linked to the NerazzurrI in the last year. They would both be quality signing’s providing cover at the center back position and would be low cost purchases.

This is not the way contracts work. We would likely have to pay him out for 12 months at least if we just terminate. Unfortunately this means we are stuck with a highly paid fringe player on the treatment table. Should have moved him on earlier in the transfer window (if that was Mancini’s plan).
I know it’s an option. Either way, if we had to pay him for a year, do it. Better than him takin up a roster spot and wasting our time
