We may differ in football philosophy. For me, full backs unlock the game when the opponent is defensive. That doesn’t mean we can’t have an exchange in an educated manner. That’s why I put forward my thought on taking a chance with an attacking fullback. Sort of like a secret weapon when we need it. I believe it may pay off since we already have Juan Jesus if we need to park the bus at LB. Sadly, there aren’t many LB available that are good in both phases of the game.
Fullbacks like Marcelo, Vidal, Jordi Alba are played because they are good offensively, the brunt of the defending in those tactical systems is on the shoulders of the 2 CBs paired with the DMF (triangle). Some teams tend to play one attacking fullback with one defending fullback (like the treble Inter team that played Chivu and Maicon).

Well I’m sorry for being so closed minded about shaq playing as LB…it seemed to absurd but everyone is entitled to their views and I respect yours but it would even take a while to transform shaq into a proper left back especially when JJ is first option,time that I’m not sure Mancini has to gamble with.Besides I don’t even think he wants to see shaq ever again in life.
