“The sale of Mateo Kovacic is the watershed for the Inter transfers. Before the 15th of August in came Jovetic and Kondogbia, a new defence and the sale of Shaqiri. After the 15th the rest; Perisic, another winger, a midfielder, two fullbacks and the last sales. This is why the transfer responsible people at Inter have updated the situation.”

Am i sad mateo left, even for 35 mil? Yes i am devastated. But you all have to realise that mateo needs a winning team to grow into; it would take him much longer to grow with inter than it will with madrid, and inter need results NOW. Is he our best talent? Probably, but the issue is debatelable. Mancini is NOT an idiot, we need kondogbia more than we need kovacic, and kondogbia had his breakout season last year, while mateo still leaves alot to be desired, and they were both sold at the same price! A player that dominated midfield on the biggest of stages, and one that struggled to outplay the likes of cagliari and lecce, only one good game against an umpteenth tier club. All of you who say they wont follow inter again is fine by me, i think the club is having a renaissance the likes of which it has never seen, and this season is by far the most pronising we’ve had since josé. Good, we will bring 5 new players that are average and approaching 30 or over 30 (Lavezzi, Melo, Criscito, Perotti, etc.) and waste 35 million. Then in December when Inter are in 11th place in Serie A, Mancini will be finally fired and the new coach will have to deal with a squad full of average aging players who were brought by Mancio instead of one of the best young players in the world who would have become our new Xavi in the future under a good coach. Too bad this coach is given special treatment just because of his past achievements. Any regular coach would’ve been fired after the fiasco of last season and the lack of ability to use the players at his disposal (even the ones he requested during the January market).

You are speaking way out of your competence level. The deal for kovacic was most probably struck late april (remember the news from real at that time). Kondogbia is a direct replacement of kovacic. Mancini wants strong players for a certain formation. Becouse mancini can adjust his tactics to build on the talent thats there speaks of mancini as a coach. Inter branded their product around kovacic and icardi. Mancini show incompetence in producing talent. Not only that, he cant even make up his mind on players. Podolski, santon, brozovic and shaq came but None (Exept brozovic) are good enough anymore. What about montoya? Suddenly hes not good enough anymore? I have lost all confidence in him. Some of you guys need to get a life. We sold a promising young CM who took 20 months to score his first goal with us. He played in something like half of our games last year. He has talent, but not talent that ever took us anywhere. Sure, you can blame the coach to some degree. However, if Kovacic was the god of soccer like some of you think is, he would play every single minute and absolutely dominate more times than not.

Kovacic was one of the reasons that made Inter matches good to watch, he didn’t have anybody to support him except Icardi up front, he was blamed for many things and that made his morale even worse. Now Inter lack creativity without him, look at him and Real and you will hopefully see what I mean. He dribbled past 3-4 players per dribble but then he passed the ball to a player that slowed down the game like Guarin or Palacio which allowed the players Kova dribbled past to be back to position. Now in Real Madrid with his pace and dribbling he will ease Ronaldo, James, Bale and Benzema’s jobs.
This is the most sensible post in months. You can blame RM for panic buying Shaq, ppodolskii etc last Jan but you cannot blame him because they played crap. Medel would have been perfect if kova was still here. He would have picked up the defensive responsibilities that kova lacked and given the space kova needed to attack.

it’s not about a defensive team or an attacking one, have you seen the aek athens game? or games like chievo, empoli, genoa last season? in a very compact team medel is useless! even if perisic and another winger comes. against athens the ball was carried forward by the defenders and hardly reached the forwards….. i’m sure ambrosio had more touches than medel. it’s not defensive or attacking. it’s how you build up the play and pass the ball. busquets who’s the worlds best holding midfielder isn’t the best defensively, heck medel might be better defensively. but he knows how to distribute the ball and keep the defense safe despite rarely getting down and dirty. we don’t have any tall forwards so we can blast the ball long and hope someone gets it. medel is not up to inter’s standards especially in our heavy possession based system. when was the last time you’ve seen him take 4-5 touches to open up passing angles? never. at times it’s not about passing the ball to whoever you see. i’ve seen centerbacks who have better build up skills than medel. and not even world class center backs.

I disagree. While Mancini isn’t the best coach around with some new players he will be able to achieve good results. Shaqiri and Kovacic sales have nothing to do with him obviously. It is the FFP that forced the management to sell them. I understand the frustration of some people and it looks like the coach has been picked as a scapegoat now but with new players Mancini can start playing his main formation and Inter will attack the UCL spots next season.

You pay small amounts of money (2 or 3 million) and set up a loan with payment being delayed. This is how you partially evade FFP. It’s not perfect but it works.
