The objective is to become great again. Speaking to ESPN Brasil Juan Jesus explains what was missing at Inter that finished in eighth place in the league last season, focusing on the fundamental support of the fans: “It has been a year of ups and downs. We have to improve a lot, become consistent and maintain an high level. I hope it’s a totally different year, because we need to get back into the Champions League, which is where Inter should be. We went through a very bad time, yet fans always encouraged us. One day a lady who was more than 70 years took a picture with the Inter shirt and told me: ‘I’m always at your side and always together’. This excited me even more, so much so that I put the photos on Instagram. It is a motivation.”

Meanwhile Joao Miranda has arrived: “He’s a guy I know from the Brazilian national team, a sensational person, simple as me. He is a defender who has much experience and calmness, who always guides the teammates on the pitch. He will help us a lot with his quality, I hope to grow and learn from him.”

On the relationship with the fans: “By metro it takes me ten minutes to reach the stadium. People recognize me, but there is no trouble. They always respect me and are very polite. They approach me to talk, to ask me about the team, about the dressing room and stuff like that. Even opposing fans ask me to play for their team. This is healthy rivalry.”
