According to you, is the dressing room this year compact and eager to win?
“Yes, it’s a new group because so many new players were signed, and I think they understand what it means to wear the Inter shirt! We hope to continue like this.”

Captain, which goal gave you the most joy in beauty and emotion. I’ll tell you four goals: the derby 2-2, the final of the UEFA Cup, Inter-Roma 1-1 or the penalty in the Super Cup final for the win against Roma?
“Of all the goals mentioned, I believe that everyone has a special taste. If I have to choose… I choose the one against Roma because it gave us the Scudetto.”

Was it hard to say goodbye to football and bid farewell to the pitch at Giuseppe Meazza forever?
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but I think after 23 years of career it’s time! It was the right choice, and now I try to make myself useful to Inter. I continue to train and play with Inter Forever.”

In recent years, which of the shirts you have played in have you liked the most?
“I loved the shirt of the centenary (beautiful) and the one in the final in Madrid.”

I am a juventino, but a champion on and off the pitch like you should always be praised and my question is this: was it a test to wear the captain’s armband in a Champions League final?
“Not only the Champions League final… Wearing it is a matter of pride, I have always kept it close because it is a great responsibility for all Inter fans.”C

Captain, I would like to ask what gave you the strength to make all those comebacks in the 2009/2010 football season, even against Barcelona?
“We were a very strong group, also temperamentally, and breathed the air to win everything we could win… We wanted that final at all costs.”

What was the first thought when you lifted the trophy in Madrid?
“All my years at Inter came to mind, it was the greatest joy I could give to my fans.”

Which player inspired you as a child and did you believe you would reach this level as a child?
“I liked Bochini, a player of Independiente, and after that Matthaeus, who then wore the Inter shirt!”

Hello Javier, when you signed for Inter, would you ever have thought that your career as a player would have ended on the same team? If so, why?
“Back then I would not have though so… I would not even have thought I would have the career I did! It was a thought that was far away but over the years I realized that this was my home.”

What did Mourinho say after lifting the trophy in the Champions League, before leaving our Inter of champions?
“We hugged each other on the pitch, I thanked him for the two years together and what we had achieved. He was aware that we had done an amazing thing.”

A life at Inter, have you ever thought of being able to play and win in another championship?
“I had so many requests, but I have always chosen with the heart and especially because this felt like my home!”

When did the friendship with Paolo Maldini begin? What kind of opponent was he?
“The friendship was born many years ago, I have always had great admiration and respect for his career and his family. He has been a huge bandiera for the world of football.”

How did you feel when Inter contacted you first? Did you know about the team?
“I knew which team it was, but… I could not believe it! Having started in Argentina, a call from Inter was unthinkable.”

How did you feel when Bojan scored 2-0 in the semi-final at the Camp Nou? It was the worst feeling of my life, but then…
“Hello Gianluca, DESPAIR! Why had not the referee seen it… A lot of suffering, yes!”

Can Icardi become the charismatic leader that Inter has waited for so long after you retired about 2 seasons ago?
“Icardi is very young, I think he can still grow a lot, even though he already knows the story behind our club. I hope he can have a great future.”

Who impressed you the most as an opponent?
“I was lucky enough to face great champions… I can mention Ronaldo, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zidane, Roberto Baggio and Kaka, champions that did amazing things.”
