the problem before when rano starting is he got partnered by slow partner (vidic) or inexperience (JJ). we all know rano is not fast defender to begin with, and with characteristics of murillo who fast and got experience more than JJ, we can expect rano to flourish because statistically from last season miranda worst than rano, but he thrive now with murillo
Then i guess it will be 3 at the back. As RM has been testing during recent friendlies. I cant see medel playing in a 4 man defence in a such a important game.

I have no idea who is the best player to accompany murillo in the cb.however i hope whoever fill that void will play the best he could.
I’d like to see Medel there personally. Ranocchia gets turned around too easily and Bacca being Bilan’s biggest threat is a striker that can easily exploit that. It also helps that both Murillo, through the national team, and Medel, through international competition, are familiar with Bacca’s capabilities and habits. Not to mention the problem of communication between Murillo and Ranocchia due to the current language barrier.

langauge barrier? Italian and Spanish are not that different and you have forgotten the fact that Medel is about 10-15 cm’s shorter than both Luis Adriano and Bacca and THAT will be a problem! Rano isn’t that bad a defender (but let’s sell his ass in JAnuary and get Dragovic instead!!!) and is quite similar to Miranda – not very fast, tall and strong in the air – but of cause at least one level below Miranda!

yea, I understand that Matrix is showing him support because he mentored him in his last season and even passed on his number 23, but to say he’s a top 3 Italian defender is a little ridiculous..

i don’t think medel should be in the defense. a back 4 at that matter. adriano’s Arial threat requires juan or ranocchia. also his aggressiveness will leave him out of position 10 times more than juan lol.

Rano and murillo as center backs. However i will not feel confident anyway, but hopefully this will be ranocchias last chance to prove himself.
